5. I had this myself once with a brand new genuine adapter supplied by Mercedes, as I wanted to fit the factory option boost gauge to my then Smart Roadster.
   It drove me nuts trying to work it out and I sorted it out in the end, But only because afterwards someone told me that it was known Mercedes had a bad batch and then painstakingly had to remove all the wires from the block connectors.

7. So the factory Porsche was pinned wrong or the adapter was pinned wrong? Does the factory stereo work now?

8. Maybe the cheap head unit you are putting in is different to the original spec unit therefore the pins would have been correct for the original unit but different for the replacement unit.

9. I had issues with meta aswell , they make a adapter so you can still use steering wheel controls which kinda work , but volume up was actually down lol

13. I had the same issue on my 987, but I am sure the adapter was wrong and not the other way around.

14. I remember getting a new head unit as a teenager with a factory adaptor for that unit to my car. Realized after starting the car some wires were incorrect in a supposed plug and play option. Most expensive lesson of my teenage life.

16. Had this problem with SOT leads for a fleet of 30-odd Renault Master vans we were converting into ambulances. Just good fortune that our best sparky happened to be installing the first one and his Jedi-level intuition realised the screw-up. Had to re-pin them all 😑 Remember Quality Control? Seems to have been made obsolete since everything was in sepia and people walked really, really fast.

17. I'll go you one better. Factory Ford towing harness for a 2000 explorer, totally wrong, and no one had fixed it in 20 years

19. That’s where you’re wrong, that’s not pinned incorrectly, it’s not the right harness for your application.

20. Just because the pins are not to spec doesn't mean it was done in the factory.

21. Metra gave me the wrong speaker brackets for my car when I ordered new speakers from crutchfield.

22. Weird, had the same problem with my Volvo a couple of years back. Was missing an additional ground and 12v. Believe it was also a Metra!
